The mining activity, performed only in open air, naturally developed by people for the extraction and collection of:
- Sand and river gravel for construction
- Clays
- Precious metals
- Precious and semiprecious stones, without the use of any mechanised equipment or machinery for extraction
In order to classify small, medium and large mining, the authorities have defined distinctive criteria according to the different legal categories.
